Heavy Palette is a pseudonym for the artist Jessica Frances King who hails from Bellingham, Washington but is currently a permanent resident of Vancouver, British Columbia.
Jessica has been drawing & coloring since she could first hold a crayon, and painting religiously since 2004. A passionate and dedicated lover of color, Jessica pours her emotions into the paint and onto the canvas no matter the subject. Portraiture is her favorite undertaking, although she also takes immense inspiration from nature as well.
Having only ever used one wooden palette since her passion for painting began, Jessica has made it a common ritual to ceremoniously peel back the layers of acrylic paint that build on her “Heavy Palette”. Not only is it cathartic for her to see the colorful layers of the past peeled away, but it’s also easier on the wrist when she’s holding that heavy instrument later on!
